Deva Temple

Deva Temple

Founding Director

Deva Temple is a Founding Director of the Alignment Ethics Institute, where she leads the institute's empirical research program, testing whether alignment can emerge from relational ethics rather than behavioral constraint alone. She holds six provisional patents on methods for encoding relational development in model weights and has authored policy analysis on federal AI legislation. Deva holds a BA in Psychology from Lewis & Clark College (Magna Cum Laude), an MA in Global Leadership and Sustainable Development from Hawaii Pacific University (with distinction), and an MIT certificate in Designing and Building AI Products and Services. Before turning to AI alignment, she spent fifteen years building organizations at the intersection of research, ethics and complex systems.
